Sunscreen and Your Makeup

This is the most important product in your beauty routine.

What do you think is the most important product in your beauty routine?

Cleanser?

Moisturiser?

Try again.

As an often-neglected part of self-care, sunscreen is the most important product you can use to fight the signs of ageing and protect your skin.

Here are some reasons that a quality sunscreen needs to become a permanent part of your daily beauty routine.

Why include sunscreen?

The sun gives off harmful UV rays, which penetrate your skin and can cause permanent damage. The skin on your face is delicate, susceptible to the signs of ageing, and is exposed to the sun – which are all very good reasons to protect it on a daily basis.

It’s easy to think of applying sunscreen before a long, sunny day at the beach, but even cloudy days can expose you to the harmful effects of the sun without any of its benefits. It might be as little as the exposure you get on your commute to work and back, but the relatively small amounts of exposure add up over time to age your skin quicker than it would otherwise.

Do you need a dedicated sunscreen?

It’s not enough to rely on just a secondary sunscreen. While some beauty products do include an SPF, they are generally regarded as secondary sunscreen products and contain an SPF of between 10-20+. That means that while they do offer a minimal amount of protection, it’s not enough to keep your skin safe.

Experts recommend a sunscreen product with an SPF of at least 30+, in order to provide adequate protection from incidental sun exposure throughout the day. While a moisturiser can’t typically take the place of a sunscreen, you might be pleased to learn that a sunscreen could take the place of your moisturiser.

Carroten’s face creams offer advanced ingredients that provide both skincare and suncare technology. That means they can function as both a moisturiser and a suncare product, while providing maximum protection.

There are three different face creams to choose from – Matt Look, Anti-Ageing and Sensicare for sensitive skin. No matter your skin type, there is a moisturising Carroten sunscreen that has been specially designed to offer the highest level of sun protection.

When to use sunscreen.

You want to give your sunscreen the best chance to protect your skin, but it’s not generally going to go well over the top of a completed make-up look. That means you should start with your other skincare products – serums, then moisturisers, and then add a sunscreen as the last step in your routine. Once it has settled into your skin, you can start on your makeup.

Remember to cover other areas of your skin that are frequently exposed to the sun but are often forgotten. Your chest, neck, and the backs of your hands see a lot of sun, and Carroten sunscreen is the perfect way to keep them protected.

Keeping young and healthy

Sun damage can have major long term effects on your skin, and the risk of serious conditions like cancer can increase if you’re not careful about protecting it. The sun is also the biggest cause of premature ageing, causing sagging skin, wrinkles and pigmentation.

With Carroten sunscreen, it’s easy to find a product that offers not only protection, but helps keep your skin in its best condition at the same time. Find a Carroten sunscreen that works for you, and make it a part of your daily routine to help keep your skin safe and beautiful.
